Grace McKee is the art instructor for adult and senior art classes here at the new Gardenville Culture Center. She gets great enjoyment from sharing her love for and knowledge of art, imparting specific tips and techniques.
Grace believes that creativity is uplifting and therapeutic. Her art students will tell you that she is a supportive, organized instructor who truly enjoys helping you move forward in your artistic pursuits.
Grace serves as Art Specialist at MiraBay and teaches acrylics, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, watercolor, and watercolor pencils to individual adults and small groups. She leads gyotaku (fish rubbing) workshops for larger groups, recently at the Trunk Show Boutique and MiraBay Clubhouse and soon at the Valencia Lakes Clubhouse.
Grace has studied watercolor with Jo Tarabula, AWS, acrylics with Joanna Coke, MFA, and gyotaku with Japanese Master Gyotaku Artist Mineo Yamamoto.
A retired teacher, she has taught business technology education, including computer graphics, at Erwin Technical Center and at East Bay and Jefferson High Schools where she served as BTE Department Head. She has also taught at the University of South Florida and Hillsborough and Pasco-Hernando Community Colleges. And she taught at Qingdao International School in Qingdao, China.
A longtime resident and active community member of SouthShore, Grace is a past president of both Apollo Beach and GFWC Ruskin Woman's Clubs and a charter member of Riverview Woman's Club. She is a former Honorary Mayor of Apollo Beach and has served on the Board of the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce.
